The WODL Festival Is Over - Next Year It's Woodstock!

May 22, 2026

We all survived the WODL Festival undertaking and things went well.  Of course there were hiccups - no event worth its salt could or would run completely smoothly - testing fire alarms in the theatre and community hall during the only rehearsal a play had was one of them!

However, everyone worked together to give WODL a great festival in Hanover.  The organizing committee were excellent (wow - great advertisers and fundraising) - and the Gala was outstanding, including the fantastic props!  The car was a nice touch Dave.  The Best Western Hotel had workshops and social activities throughout the Festival for the public and participants thanks to Linda and her helpers.

A little breather but Auditions start on May 31st at 6:30 p.m. at St. Matthew's Evangelical Lutheran Church, the corner of 9th Street and 11th Avenue for Between the Lines, a musical.  Please use the 11th Avenue Auditorium entrance door where you will be met by our greeters, then head on downstairs.  You can sign up on the website.

Auditions for Clue:  On Stage will take place in October.  This is a script based on the board game that many of us have played.  Murder and blackmail are on the menu when six mysterious guests assemble at Boddy Manor for a night they’ll never forget! Was it Mrs. Peacock in the study with the knife? Or was it Colonel Mustard in the library with the wrench? Based on the fan-favorite 1985 Paramount Pictures movie and inspired by the classic Hasbro board game, Clue is the ultimate whodunit that will leave you dying of laughter and keep you guessing until the final twist.

Please keep in mind that with 2027 being our Anniversary year, we will be looking for people to audition for two short 30 minute plays:  Riverview: Tape 23 (3 women) and When God Comes For Breakfast You Don't Burn the Toast (two men, one woman).  There are two performances for our Winterlude program at the end of February.  We will also be auditioning musical acts to fill out the program.  If you are interested, please note the dates.  More information will be forthcoming in September.

We're always looking for volunteers (if you're retired that's even better as we like to work during the day) to help us out with painting (if you can use a paint roller you're in), perhaps hang wallpaper.

We'd love to hear from you.  One of the things we noticed at Festival was the immense number of people the three productions had (not including cast): both  technical and backstage.  I was sure envious!  We'd like to form a group that could help us out for productions just like these groups have.

Please think about it - remember what the arts teach (or have taught you in the past).  We need a working group to keep us 'on the stage'
